Political activity of Anselm of Canterbury

The thesis aims to describe Anselm's years as prior and abbot and his archiepiscopal career. Analyzing the years spent in the Norman monastery of Bec as a missionary and teacher in its school, the thesis notes the amount of knowledge and experiences which prepared Anselm for his archiepiscopal career. His intellectual qualities and theories are examined as well as some of his highly influential theological texts. Anselm also strove to spread the reforms of his teacher and mentor at Bec and his predecessor at Canterbury, Archbishop Lanfranc. Anselm's following archiepiscopal career spanned the reigns of two kings: William Rufus and Henry I. The study proves that the policies and attitudes of both rulers were quite different. Under the reign of William Rufus, Anselm tried to bring his ideal theoretical state of things into actuality, but the king resisted everything he attempted to do. With his death, Anselm's position changed rapidly and dramatically. Henry, on the other hand, excelled in the ability to work out a compromise. In the end, Anselm's archiepiscopal career concluded with cooperation between king and archbishop.

Cardinal Josef Beran S.M.Bernadetta Pavla Pěstová, OSU This thesis deals with reference and work of Josef Cardinal Beran, especially from the perspective of his pastoral work as an educationalist, the diocesan bishop and cardinal living in forcible exile. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first charter describes Beran's life hierarchically and emphasizes his clarical activity. The second charter deals with his teaching activities. Furthermore, this charter focuses on the selected publications that Cardinal Beran wrote during his life. A fundamental part of this thesis is the third chapter, dealing with the activities of the Archbishop from 1945 to 1949. The final chapters are devoted to activities in the intervent of Josef Beran in Roman exile. Cardinal Josef Beran ranks among the leading personalities of the 20th century. Czech nationalism and the emergence of the Czechoslovak Church

This paper describes nationalism as a phenomenon that has become an integral part of Czech society in the 19th century and its manifestations. It describes the main motives Czech nationalist ideology created by T. G. Masaryk. It also described the political situation during the First World War and the circumstances of the independent Czechoslovak state and its share in breaking the Austro - Hungarian monarchy. The work deals with the problem of modernism in the Catholic Church, whose adherents later became the founder of the Church of Czechoslovakia. Briefly describes the lives of the founders of the church and their relationship to nationalist political movements. The core of the work is the analysis of texts relating to the reform movement of the Czech Catholic clergy and the Czechoslovak church, from the period between 1906 - 1931, which is determined by the definition of nationalism seeks to assess its impact on the formation and other life Czechoslovak Church.

The symbol of time - "patriotic" priest Josef Plojhar

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compose biographical essay of the life of catholic priest Josef Plojhar, from his childhood to the beginning of fifties in the 20th century. Up to now unknown sources will be employed and with regard to absence of sources' platform partly oral historical sources will be used. I will follow his personal life, social situation of his family, problematic question of his germanization, career as a priest and consequential transformation to the profane sphere, the years in concentration camps and the years after 1945.
